PWPW S.A. stamps featuring Pope
 (23-06-2014)

On the 2nd April stamps commemorating the canonization of Pope John Paul II entered circulation. With this joint issue of Vatican and Poland Polish Post wanted to celebrate the canonization of the Polish Pope.

The stamps were designed by artists: Marzanna Dąbrowska and Jacek Dąbrowski. They present the Pope with a radiant face and a hand raised in blessing. The stamps were printed by offset and steel engraving. The printer of the stamps for the Polish Post and Vatican was Polish Security Printing Works (PWPW S.A.).

“I believe that the joint issue of Poland and Vatican commemorating the canonization of Pope John Paul II will receive an enthusiastic welcome from all our customers, just as the previous editions featuring the Polish Pope did.” said Agnieszka Kłoda Dębska, the Deputy Director of Promotion and Marketing Department.

The stamps priced PLN 2.35, PLN 5 and PLN 8.50 were printed on fluorescent paper in 43.00 x 31.25mm, 39.5 x 51mm (75 x 100mm sheet) formats with total printing of: PLN 2.35 – 1,500,000 copies, PLN 5 and PLN 8.50 – 200,000 copies for each size. Three first day covers (FDC) with a special postmark “SANTO SUBITO” were issued along with the stamps.
