 (28-07-2011)

On 28 and 29 July 2011 during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Poland, Bronisław Komorowski in the Republic of Armenia, the representatives of PWPW S.A. signed a contract for the supply of digital blanks of IDs and passport booklets as well as for the implementation of the system of issuing the aforementioned documents in the Republic of Armenia. The Polish company was awarded the procurement contract after having beaten other competitors that are among the world’s leaders. It is another contract of PWPW S.A. to be performed in this country.

In November 2010 the government of the Republic of Armenia announced the tender to supply the complete system of issuing biometrical passports and identification cards in Armenia. The bidders included eight companies. At the final stage of the tender process the commission analyzed two best offers – Polska Wytwórnia Papierów Wartościowych S.A. turned out to be the successful bidder.

The subject matter of the contract signed includes the implementation of the digital system of issuing and personalisation of biometric passports and biometric IDs. Within the next five years the company will also supply 300 thousand pieces of modernly secured passport booklets and one million pieces of secured polycarbonate card blanks. The supply of the system of issuing passports and IDs includes both the supply of the software and the necessary electronic appliances. The central personalisation of the documents will take place in Yerevan, with the maintenance services being provided by PWPW S.A. in cooperation with the Armenian partner.

We are very glad that the professionalism of the Polish document producer is appreciated by another partner on the international market, the more so because we compete with the biggest document suppliers in the world,’ says Krzysztof Żarnotal, President of the Management Board of PWPW S.A.

The production of the IDs and passports is not the first contract performed by PWPW S.A. in the Republic of Armenia. This year in June the Company implemented the system of digital tachographs and within the next five years it will supply personalised tachograph cards. Moreover, The Republic of Armenia is another international client of PWPW S.A. in the area of identification documents. In 2007 PWPW S.A. became the supplier of the biometric passport system for Lithuania and since 2010 the Company has been producing passport booklets and visas for Bangladesh.
